The Chickasaw Nation LifeRx program has openings for in-person group coaching classes for individuals with prediabetes.
Adopting healthy behaviors can be difficult if they do not fit into your lifestyle. LifeRx offers tools to make weight loss and diabetes prevention efforts balanced and achievable.
In-person group coaching classes begin in August and the deadline for application is Aug. 11. Eligible participants receive support and guidance from a lifestyle coach who will help them set personalized goals, identify problem social and food cues and teach them to turn challenges into opportunities.
Eligibility includes:
- 18 years of age or older
- Any of the following:
- Prediabetes diagnosis confirmed by a blood test within the past 12 months
- History of gestational diabetes (diabetes while pregnant)
- Elevated risk level (determined after application is reviewed)
- Classes are open to the public regardless of tribal affiliation.
A diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes disqualifies you from this service. This program is not suitable for diabetes treatment or diabetes self-management.
